A lot of you guys know I’m a sucker for computers that are dimensionally on the smaller size. Some of them are better than others, some of them are more compact than others. This latest MSI computer might not win any beauty contests, but it’s tiny and it’s pretty good on the inside. If only you could buy it.

MSI has announced the launch of the MS-C927, a fanless embedded PC. This is meant for business usage for the most part, and it has a very industrial design as it’s meant to be deployed in all kinds of challenging environments. The fact that it’s fanless makes it suitable for dust-prone industrial areas or noise-sensitive environments, and it is rated for a wide operational temperature range, from -10°C to 60°C. The MS-C927 complies with the IEC 61373 standard for shock and vibration resistance, a critical requirement for maintaining operational integrity in transportation applications or near heavy machinery.

The MS-C927 features a notably small chassis, measuring only 130 x 155 x 40 mm, which allows for putting it inside really, really tight enclosures. Despite its low profile, though, it doesn’t skimp on specs. The new system uses Intel’s Meteor Lake-U and Arrow Lake-U series Core Ultra processors. It also supports dual DDR5 SO-DIMM slots, accommodating up to 96GB of system memory. It doesn’t look like it ships with RAM, but you can put a lot of it inside if you need it, which is good.

The MS-C927 includes two DisplayPort connections, each capable of driving an independent 4K display at a resolution of 4096 x 2304 pixels at 60Hz. There’s also a total of three m.2 slots. One of them is for storage, of course, but there’s also a B-key slot that can be used for various expansion cards, such as cellular modems for remote connectivity, while an E-key slot is designated for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth wireless communication modules. Further connectivity includes four USB 10 Gbps ports for high-speed peripherals, two COM ports for legacy serial device integration, and an 8-bit General Purpose Input/Output (GPIO) interface (4 GPI, 4 GPO) for direct interaction with sensors and actuators.

I never knew I wanted a touchscreen PC case until now.

The fact that this computer is rugged as hell and made for challenging environments should tell you that this is meant as a business PC for a very specific niche. Though it looks pretty cool. It’s something you could buy for a small workshop where dust could be a problem, for one, given it’s fanless. Sadly, it’s not something you can buy—it’s not listed on MSI’s IPC page yet, and even if it were, you have to get in touch with an agent to buy it, which will probably require a bulk order.
