It’s been two years since the launch of the ROG Ally, yet ASUS has never sold a full-fat docking station for the popular handheld gaming PC. That’s changing today as the company announces the ROG Bulwark Dock, a compact 7-in-1 station for handheld gaming PCs and smartphones.
I’m not going to pretend that this is the only handheld PC docking station in the whole wide world. There are genuinely dozens of options to choose from, including the travel-friendly ROG Gaming Charger Dock, which is basically just a power brick with an HDMI port. That said, I’m a big fan of the ROG Bulwark Dock’s design, and it has a competent port selection that I find very compelling.
Like the Razer Handheld Dock Chroma that we reviewed a few months ago, the ASUS ROG Bulwark Dock has a built-in console kickstand that folds down for increased portability. But ASUS’ chassis has a more detailed, high-end design with neat aluminum accents and a far more subdued use of RGB lighting. It also uses a removable, replaceable USB-C cable to connect to handheld PCs and smartphones—other docking stations, including that one from Razer, use a permanently-attached cable. A permanently-attached cable may be more convenient for travel, but you’re screwed if it breaks.
The ROG Bulwark Dock utilizes a USB 3.2 connection, which is more than fast enough for the average gamer’s needs (though Thunderbolt would be better in the long term, especially for those who want to use eGPUs). It has a relatively robust I/O with three USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a Gigabit Ethernet jack, and an HDMI 2.1 video connector with support for 4K 144Hz and 8K 30Hz output.
There are also two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C ports on the back of the unit, but you can’t use them for accessories or other fun stuff. One will be occupied by your console, and the other needs to plug into the wall for power. On the bright side, this dock will charge your handheld PC at speeds up to 100 watts. And if you need more USB-A connections for keyboards, controllers, or external storage, you can just plug a USB 3.2 Type-A hub into one of the dock’s open ports.

So many choices, so little money. Sorry, Nintendo!
Naturally, the ROG Bulwark Dock is part of ASUS’ Aura Sync ecosystem. You can control its RGB accent lighting from your PC or wirelessly sync it to other ROG devices in your home. Though I should reiterate that this lighting is pretty subtle—brighter, flashier RGB lighting would make it difficult to see your device’s screen while docked.
Unfortunately, there’s no word on pricing or availability. ASUS is showing off the ROG Bulwark Dock at COMPUTEX 2025, so we may learn more in the coming days, but I just hope that the company manages to achieve a competitive price. This’ll be a seriously compelling alternative to the Steam Deck Dock and other big-name handheld PC docking stations if it clocks in under $80.
