The 2025 Ram 1500 Has an Impressive Ceiling for Luxury

If a good mix of capability and comfort is what you’re after, then the Ram 1500 is one of the best trucks out there. This full-size machine may not be the most popular option there is, but we think it is easily the best value for money option in its segment. Its top trims are also downright luxurious.

Changes For 2025

Ram’s full-size pickup truck has been overhauled for the 2025 model year, with changes being made to just about everything. Headlining changes is the fact that the Hemi V-8 was dropped in favor of a new twin-turbocharged inline-six called the Hurricane, which we’ll get into a bit further down. The Hemi V-8 is, however, making a comeback, with Ram recently making the decision to reinstate it.

Styling tweaks have been minor, but are enough to make the pickup feel sleeker and more modern, with updated lighting elements, wheel designs, and paint options. On the inside, standard technology has been upgraded to make the already plush truck feel even more inviting. If comfort is your thing, the new range-topping Tungsten model is as luxurious as it gets.

Tungsten

There is a plethora of trims to choose from when it comes to the 2025 Ram 1500, from the basic Tradesman work truck to the new plush Tungsten model. While the near-$90,000 trim is certainly as comfortable as it gets, every 1500 is surprisingly comfortable, especially when compared to its direct rivals.

If value is what you’re after, then there are two trims that stand out. The Rebel is a great option for more adventurous buyers, fitted with some great off-roading equipment and a great list of standard equipment. If you stick to the tarmac more often than not, then we’d suggest the Laramie, which balances price, comfort, and capability exceptionally well.

Warranties and Maintenance

  • Limited Warranty – Three Years or 36,000 Miles
  • Powertrain Warranty – Five Years or 50,000 Miles
  • No Complimentary Maintenance

Warranties on the Ram 1500 aren’t anything to write home about. Bumper-to-bumper coverage is slightly below average while the powertrain warranty is on par with most of the pickup’s main competitors. Ram doesn’t offer any complimentary maintenance, which puts it behind rivals like the Toyota Tundra, GMC Sierra, and Chevrolet Silverado.

The 1500’s Cabin Is Practical but Also Surprisingly Upscale

A full-size truck is meant to be the ultimate machine when it comes to heavy-duty work, aiming to be as versatile as possible. This is why Ram has designed the 1500 to be as easy to navigate as possible on the inside, with plenty of room to work. More impressively, is how well it balances this practicality with a upscale vibe.

The 1500 comes in a couple of different configurations. The above shows the more common Crew Cab models, but some more affordable trims can be had as Quad Cabs instead, with smaller rear seat areas. Most models come with a 5’7” bed, but a number can be configured with an extended bed to carry more cargo.

Quad Cabs are plenty comfortable, but Crew Cabs are downright cavernous for those in the front and the back. Most models also come with some pretty high-end features, including heated and ventilated seats and a panoramic sunroof. The fanciest models also get some high-quality leather upholstery and genuine wood accents.

Infotainment and Technology

Ram has been leading the charge when it comes to infotainment systems for some time now, and the 2025 1500 pulls even further ahead with an updated unit. A 12-inch screen is standard kit now, with an even larger 14.5-inch screen being available on some of the higher trims. Regardless of which one you opt for, there are plenty of physical controls throughout the cabin as well, which we appreciate. A 10.3-inch passenger-side screen is also available, having access to navigation and entertainment features.

The 1500’s cabin is impressively well-connected, with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto being available as well as dual-phone Bluetooth capability. A number of sound systems are also on offer depending on which trim you go for, with the top of line option being the 23-speaker Klipsch stereo system in the Tungsten model.

There Are a Couple of Smooth and Powerful Engines to Choose From

Ram

As mentioned before, the Hemi V-8 has been removed from the lineup for the 2025 model year, which is something that will definitely ruffle some feathers. However, the engine that replaces it is equally impressive in our eyes, and base models still come fitted with a satisfying V-6.

There are two engine options when it comes to what sits under the hood of the 1500. The base powertrain is a mild-hybrid V-6 which is assisted by a 48-volt system. The other engine is the new Hurricane. The inline-six makes either 420 horsepower, as detailed above, or a whopping 540 horsepower and 521 pound-feet of torque in slightly more raucous models.

The Hurricane really is the star of the show here. It delivers plenty of power for its truck duties and anyone that has ever driven a car with an inline six will be able to tell you just how smooth they are. Every model comes with coils instead of leaf springs, which makes the ride more comfortable than most of the pickup’s direct rivals. An adjustable air suspension is also optional, which improves ride quality, fuel efficiency, and off-road capability even further.

Towing and Payload Capacity

The maximum towing capacity of the 1500 sits at 11,580 pounds. This is slightly behind the 13,000-pound rating that rivals over at Ford and Chevrolet offer, but not by a particularly meaningful amount in our opinion. Payload capacity sits at 2,300 pounds, which is more than reasonable.

If you’re looking for a Ram that can tow a little more, then the new plug-in hybrid Ramcharger can handle up to 14,000 pounds. Those with even heftier ambitions can consider the HD Ram 2500 or 3500, which can pull up to 37,090 pounds, an absurd amount for the average person.

No one is expecting a full-size truck to save you money on gas, but it’s worth noting how much it will guzzle anyway. Considering the performance difference between the V-6 and the 420-horsepower inline-six, the difference in efficiency isn’t all that startling. The high output version of the Hurricane is definitely much heavier on fuel than any other model.
