Onyx BOOX is introducing a new pair of seven-inch eReaders, the BOOX Go 7 and BOOX Go Color 7 Gen II. Priced at a respective $250 and $280, these are the first seven-inch BOOX eReaders to support stylus input.
The Onyx BOOX Go 7 appears to be a very competent Android eReader, packing a 300ppi Carta 1300 E Ink screen, the Android 13 operating system, a built-in speaker (plus Bluetooth functionality), and an asymmetrical design with page-turn buttons. It’s essentially a black-and-white version of the first-generation Go Color 7 with stylus support and an OS upgrade.

Why the iPad Is Replacing My eReader
iPads are more expensive but they come with some big benefits.
And, funny enough, the Go Color 7 Gen II is just a colorized version of the standard Go 7. BOOX added stylus support, Android 13, and redesigned page-turn buttons, but it kept the octa-core processor and Kaleido 3 E Ink screen from last year’s Go Color 7 model.
The Go 7 Color Gen II only costs $280, which is pretty affordable for a color eReader. However, I should point out that color E Ink is somewhat “dim” and low-res due to the use of a color filter.
I don’t suggest buying a color eReader unless you plan on reading in direct light, otherwise you’ll need to use the tablet’s frontlight all the time. Of course, this may be an issue of personal preference—I hate using my eReader’s frontlight, but I’m sure that other people are fine with it.

Ultra-Portable Foldable eReaders Are Finally a Reality
Say hello to the Mooink V, the first consumer full-color foldable eReader.
Both of these eReaders are compatible with the BOOX InkSense Stylus. However, the stylus is sold separately. It’s also out of stock at the time of writing, which is somewhat ironic, given the fact that stylus support is a headline feature for the new BOOX eReaders. BOOX hasn’t clarified whether third-party styluses will work with the Go 7 or Go Color 7 Gen II.
Pre-orders for the BOOX Go 7 are available today for $250 at the BOOX web store. All purchases of the Go 7 include a free folio case, at least for now. BOOX says that it will open pre-orders for the $280 Go 7 Color Gen II “soon.” Orders are shipped from a U.S. warehouse, meaning that customers shouldn’t need to worry about being charged an import fee by their courier (a concern that Temu and Shien shoppers are facing due to changing U.S. trade policy). That said, BOOX, like other eReader brands, recently increased its prices in response to tariffs.
