Some people don’t like liquid cooling on their PCs. And it’s fine, I get it. It’s hard to install, and in a lot of cases, it can be tricky to fit one inside of your PC. Cooler Master makes some great air coolers, and this new one looks pretty good.
Cooler Master has just unveiled the Hyper 612 Apex, its latest air cooler, and probably one of the best we’ve seen from the company yet. This CPU has been quietly on sale for some time, but the company decided to make the formal announcement today. One thing the company is highlighting here is the cooler’s thermal dissipation capabilities, attributed largely to what Cooler Master describes as “superconductive composite heat pipes.” The cooler incorporates six of these heat pipes, which manage to move heat off your CPU very efficiently. This cooler itself is seemingly capable of cooling up to 260W CPUs, which is about what a decent liquid AIO cooler is capable of dispersing. This also makes it a great option for gaming PCs, workstations used for content creation, or overclocked computers—anything with a particularly high heat output, this should be able to handle pretty well.
Cooler Master states that the new cooler is approximately 30% smaller than its predecessor, which should be a boon as far as case clearance and clearance for elements such as tall RAM modules go. It’s not exactly a low-profile air cooler, but it’s as small as it gets while still being able to appropriately cool a high-powered CPU. A more compact cooler also simplifies installation and improves airflow within smaller or more densely packed PC cases.
Airflow through the fin stack is provided by a single Cooler Master Mobius 120P fan. This 120mm fan is specified by the company as being engineered for high static pressure, so it should be good enough for sustained performance. Cooler Master also claims the fan operates with minimal noise output. And if you’re ever in need of swapping it out, the cooler includes a removable magnetic top cover, and the fan is also designed for straightforward removal and attachment.

Jimmy Sha, Cooler Master’s CEO, commented that “the Hyper 612 APEX is designed to meet the needs of users who want efficient cooling without the bulk.” He went on to add that “with our advanced heat pipe technology and compact design, this cooler delivers high-performance results while staying user-friendly for a wide range of builds.”
This cooler can be bought on Amazon for $79.99, so if you’re building a PC and you don’t really feel like going for an AIO cooler, you might as well check it out.
