How to turn off a PS4 controller
Step 1.
Hold down the controller’s PS button for 10 seconds OR until the Quick Menu appears
The PS button can be found in the center of the controller between the two analogue sticks.
There are two methods to turn off a controller. The first is to hold down on this button for around 10 seconds, switching it off completely. Alternatively, you can hold the PS button until the Quick Menu appears and follow the steps below to select a specific controller to switch off.
Step 2.
Click Sounds/Devices
Select the Sounds/Devices tab on the left side of the screen.
Step 3.
Click Turn Off Device
Scroll down to the bottom of the menu and select Turn Off Device.
Step 4.
Select the controller you’d like to turn off
Click on the controller that you want to turn off, If you only have one controller connected, that’s the option you’ll see.
We recommend that once you turn off the controller, you also put it away and on charge so that it does not automatically turn back on.
To switch your controller back on, simply press the PS button again.
You can use a PS4 controller with a PS5 console as long as you’re playing PS4 games. PS4 controllers do not work with PS5-exclusive titles, such as Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart.
