Razer has just released two new docks for Thunderbolt-capable PC laptops. The Razer Thunderbolt 5 dock adds more connectivity options and multi-monitor support to your laptop over a single cable, while the Core X V2 is a new external graphics card enclosure.
These new devices are powered by Thunderbolt 5, which offers peak transfer speeds of up to 120Gb/s, which is almost 12 times faster than USB 3.0. Plus, you can even daisy-chain other Thunderbolt devices.
Travis Furst, Head of Notebooks and Accessories at Razer, mentioned that the Thunderbolt 5 Dock is built to handle the increasing demand for “faster data transfer and robust multi-display support,” and they seem to have hit that nail on the head. He also pointed out that the Razer Core X V2 extends that experience, giving you a high-performance external graphics boost that brings desktop graphics to laptops. If you have an ultra-thin, Thunderbolt-enabled laptop, this could transform it into a creative or gaming workstation.
The Razer Thunderbolt 5 Dock can support up to three 4K displays at a smooth 120Hz, which is really fast for three high-performance monitors at once. It’s got ultra-fast Thunderbolt 5 bandwidth, meaning low-latency performance across all your connected devices, including USB-C Thunderbolt peripherals.
Beyond just connecting things, the dock expands your PC’s capabilities with up to 8TB of integrated SSD storage for file access. The Thunderbolt Share also lets you seamlessly transfer files and control multiple PCs with KVM-like functionality.
Razer’s Thunderbolt 5 dock offers 11-in-1 connectivity through a single Thunderbolt 5 cable, meaning you can connect high-refresh monitors, gaming peripherals, external storage, and input devices all at once. It’s equipped with a 250W power adapter that can deliver up to 140W to connected laptops, which is enough for even the most power-hungry systems.
Meanwhile, the Razer Core X V2 is designed to bring desktop-class performance to Thunderbolt 4, Thunderbolt 5, and select USB4 gaming laptops and handhelds. It supports full-sized PCIe graphics cards and standard ATX power supplies, so you can easily install the latest NVIDIA GeForce or AMD Radeon GPUs. Thanks to Thunderbolt 5 connectivity, you get up to twice the bandwidth of Thunderbolt 4, ensuring ultra-fast data transfer and seamless performance across a whole range of devices.
The enclosure has a ventilated steel chassis and a built-in 120mm fan that automatically adjusts based on your system’s load. If you want, you can even tune the fan curve using Razer Synapse software for optimized cooling and acoustics. Just like the dock, a single Thunderbolt 5 cable connects the Core X V2 to your host device, delivering that desktop-class graphics power on demand while also providing up to 140W of charging power.
You can get the Thunderbolt 5 Dock for $400 and the Razer Core X V2 for $350 on Razer’s official website.
