The Apple HomePod mini is designed for easy use, but with no display and few controls, problems can be challenging to pin down. If your mini HomePod stops working, it could be a connectivity or networking problem, a software issue, or even a conflict with your other smart home devices.
Start With an Update
Updating your mini HomePod can fix many problems, so you can save a lot of time if you start by ensuring that it’s up to date.
If your HomePod mini won’t play music, updating it fixes the problem. For example, if you’re unable to play Spotify on your HomePod and see that an update is available, installing the update will usually address the issue.
Updating can also fix problems with the iPhone handoff ability, issues where AirPlay crashes when transferring audio to a HomePod mini, and a variety of other troubles.
To update Apple’s mini HomePod, open the Home app and go to three dots > Home Settings > Software Update. If you see a pending update, tap Update.
Why Does My HomePod Mini Keep Losing Internet Connection?
If Siri keeps reporting that there is no internet connection when using your HomePod mini, you have a connectivity problem. Your home network may have connectivity problems, you might have connected the mini HomePod to the wrong network, or your device needs a reset.
Here’s how to fix it when a HomePod mini keeps losing an internet connection:
Restart your home network hardware. If you have access to your network hardware, unplug your modem and router, power them down, and wait a while.
You can then plug them back in, wait for the network to reconnect, and then check to see if your HomePod mini still has network connectivity problems.
Reposition your HomePod mini. If your HomePod is too far from your wireless router or there are too many obstructions, you may need to move it.
Check with your phone to make sure there is a strong Wi-Fi signal at the location of your mini HomePod. You can also improve your Wi-Fi signal by repositioning your router or removing obstructions.
Check the HomePod’s Wi-Fi connection. First, check your iPhone to ensure it’s connected to the Wi-Fi network you want to use with your HomePod mini. Then, open the Home app on your phone, and check to see if there’s a Wi-Fi alert. If there is, you can tap the alert to reset the mini HomePod Wi-Fi settings to match your iPhone.
Reset your HomePod mini. Restoring the HomePod’s software is a great way to start fresh and flush out any software-related issues it might have.
To reset the mini HomePod, open the Home app and select HomePod > Settings > Reset HomePod.
Contact Apple. If your HomePod mini seems to work fine, but Siri constantly reports internet problems, you may have a defective unit. Contact Apple customer service to see if a replacement is available.
What to Do If a HomePod Mini Won’t Respond to Voice Commands
HomePod mini works primarily through voice commands with the help of Siri. It doesn’t have a lot of physical controls, so you can only accomplish most things with voice commands. If your HomePod mini doesn’t respond to voice commands, try these fixes:
Confirm that it’s on. Check the power cable, and make sure it’s plugged into a compatible USB adapter. You can also tap the top of the device to see if it responds. If it does, it’s on and should respond to voice commands. If it doesn’t, try a different USB power source.
Make sure Hey Siri is on. Press and hold the center top of the HomePod mini, and say, “Turn on, Hey Siri.” If it still doesn’t respond after that, open the Home app on your iPhone, navigate to the HomePod settings, and turn on the Listen for Hey Siri option.
Reset the HomePod mini. If the manual controls work and Siri’s on, resetting the HomePod may fix the problem. Use the Home app to find the Reset HomePod option in HomePod > Settings.
Why Won’t My HomePod Mini Pair for Stereo Sound?
HomePod minis should connect for stereo sound automatically without any additional setup process. However, if you have two HomePods that won’t pair for stereo sound, try these fixes:
If you have one HomePod and one HomePod mini, you can’t pair them for stereo sound. A mini HomePod will only pair with another mini for stereo sound.
Make sure they’re on the same Apple ID/Apple Account. If you didn’t set up both HomePod minis with your phone, using the same Apple Account, they won’t pair for stereo sound.
Make sure they’re on the same network. If you set up the mini HomePods at different times, they may be on different Wi-Fi networks. Check each HomePod in the Home app on your iPhone, and make sure they’re on the same network.
Assign both HomePods to the same room. If you assign the mini HomePods to different rooms in the Home app, they won’t pair.
Move them close together. Place the HomePod minis as close together as possible, with no obstructions between them. Then, if they pair, you can put them back in their original positions.
Pair them first, then position them. Try unplugging the HomePod minis and take them to a different room where you can plug them in right next to each other. Place them next to each other, and wait for them to pair. After they have successfully paired, you should be able to move them back to their original positions.
Why Is My Mini HomePod Still Configuring?
Some HomePod minis have a problem where they never stop configuring. Many issues can cause this problem. If you’re having trouble with this, try these fixes:
Check Apple’s System Status page. If iCloud is down, then you’ll have trouble configuring your HomePod mini. In that case, all you can do is wait for the service to come back up and then try again.
Check your iCloud account on your phone. You will usually see an error message on your phone if there is a problem with your iCloud account or settings, but you can check to be sure.
To do this, open Settings on your iPhone, tap your name, and then select iCloud. If you see any alerts at any step along the way, address them.
Let the HomePod mini configure, and come back later. If it’s a busy time of year, the iCloud servers may be overloaded even if they aren’t down. So, let your HomePod mini work for a while, and then check back later.
You may also want to try the configuration process later or at a different time of day when the iCloud servers aren’t as busy.
Restart your HomePod mini. The HomePod mini configuration process may have stalled, in which case, simply unplugging it and then plugging it back in may get it working again.
Factory reset your HomePod mini. A factory reset may fix the problem if the mini HomePod isn’t configured.
To factory reset, open the Home app and select HomePod > Settings > Reset HomePod. You can then set it up again, hopefully finishing the configuration process.
Contact Apple customer service. If your HomePod mini still doesn’t finish configuring, it may be defective. Contact Apple for further assistance.
Why Is My HomePod Mini Not Working?
Apple’s mini HomePod can stop working for a lot of reasons, such as these:
In need of an update: Many HomePod mini problems can be solved by updating the device. If there is an update available for yours, start there.
Connectivity problems: If your HomePod can’t connect to the internet, try resetting your network hardware. If it can’t connect to your iPhone or Apple TV, move the devices closer together.
Power issues: If you’re using the wrong USB power adapter, the HomePod mini may not have enough power. If it was unresponsive immediately after plugging in, this is usually the problem.
Needs to be reset: If nothing else works, factory resetting your HomePod fixes a lot of problems.
Incompatible devices: If HomeKit scenes work with your iPhone but not with your mini HomePod, you may have some devices that have compatibility issues with your HomePod. Resetting helps sometimes, but you may need to wait for an update.
FAQ
How do you set up a HomePod mini?
To set up a HomePod mini, plug it in and hold your iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad close to it. Then, wait for the device card to pop up on your device and follow the on-screen instructions.
Can I connect my HomePod mini to Apple TV?
To connect Apple HomePod to a TV, open the Apple TV Settings, select Video and Audio, choose Audio Output, and select the name of your HomePod. Alternatively, open the content with audio on Apple TV, swipe down from the top of the screen, and choose Audio > name of HomePod.
At $35, the Blink Mini cam is one of the most affordable home security cameras to date. In addition to its reasonable price, this power adapter-tethered indoor cam has decent features and performance, but it’s missing free cloud storage aside from a free 30-day Blink Subscription Plan.
Like
Good price
Solid performance
Don’t like
That makes the Blink Mini a fine choice if you don’t mind paying a few bucks per month for cloud storage. Another initial drawback to the camera was the fixed position view, but full 360 pan and tilt is now available with the addition of a $30 Pan-Tilt Mount. The camera and mount accessory are currently available for $60, a $5 savings versus purchasing them separately.
The Blink Mini has a reliable 1080p HD live video feed, responsive motion alerts and two-way talk that was perfectly clear when my husband and I tested it out on day 3,982 of our home quarantine due to the coronavirus pandemic.
It also has motion-detection zones that successfully blocked out motion activity in the areas I designated and an extensive settings section in the Blink app with lots of customizability. Some of your options include adjusting the length of the recorded clips, customizing the intensity of the infrared LEDs for night vision — and adjusting the sensitivity of the motion sensor.
Smart device compatibility, Blink app and video storage
You can adjust a number of settings in the Blink app to suit your home setup.
Screenshot by CNET
This camera is supposed to work with Alexa-enabled smart speakers and displays, but I didn’t test the display because we don’t have any smart displays. In theory, you should be able to use a smart display to view a Blink Mini’s live feed or saved clips — but we confirmed you can use a smart speaker to arm and disarm the camera for motion detection. The Blink Mini doesn’t support Google Assistant or Siri via Apple HomeKit.
As you can see in the screen shot, the Blink app allows you to set Activity Zones to monitor, adjust the alert sensitivity and set to automatically switch between day and night views. The app is available on Apple and Android devices.
If you want cloud video storage on your Blink camera, you can opt in for a free, 30-day Blink Subscription. After that, you’ll have to chose between no cloud service and paying for the subscription plan, starting at $3 a month (or $30 a year).
Pan-Tilt Mount accessory now available
Screenshot/CNET
The Blink Mini comes with a little stand for placing it atop a shelf or counter, plus a couple screws if you want to mount it a wall or ceiling. Once it’s set in place, you’ll have a fixed view of the direction is facing. You can zoom and set Activity Zones to pay closer attention to specific spots, but there is no pan or tilt functionality.
If you want to be able to pan or tilt the view on your Blink Mini, the Blink Mini Pan-Tilt Mount will help with that. The new accessory, now on sale for $30, upgrades you camera with full 360 view capabilities.
It also complements the Blink Mini’s design and — what I consider best of all after testing a series of indoor cameras — there’s no swiping (and swiping and swiping) to move the view. The app features an up/down/left/right pad so you can press the direction you want the camera to move without swiping.
Overall, the Blink Mini is a fine camera that delivers on expectations, especially for its low price. It’d be nice if the camera came with ongoing free cloud storage and pan or tilt functionality, but those drawbacks can be overcome with a Blink Subscription and the new Pan-Tilt Mount.

22-minute video reveals the incredible work that goes into making Beelink’s tiny desktop replacements
There’s a surprising amount of hand-assembly and testing in the mini PC production line
There’s narration, no music, just pure factory sounds and impressive craftsmanship
As mini PCs have quietly evolved into compact yet capable machines, many can easily replace traditional desktops.
Once seen as niche gadgets, they now power home offices, media setups, and small businesses, with high-performance processors, expandable memory, and solid I/O support, all packed into tiny, low-noise enclosures.
Chinese manufacturer Beelink has been producing high-quality mini PCs since 2011, and if you’ve ever wondered what goes into making one of these miniature powerhouses, you’ll want to watch a new video that showcases the entire process.
Hand-finished
We’re big fans of Beelink’s range of mini PCs here at TechRadar Pro. We’ve reviewed models like the SER8, SER9, Beelink ME mini, and GTR7 and always come away impressed. The company’s most recent release, the GTR9 Pro, is powered by a Ryzen AI Max+ 395 processor and delivers 126 TOPS for next-gen AI.
The video, from SatisFactory Process, has so far been watched by nearly two million viewers, and for good reason. The 22-minute showcase explores how Beelink’s mini PCs are made from start to finish, and it’s mesmerizing.
It begins with raw aluminum being pressed and CNC-machined into a case. From there, you see the entire transformation: polishing, chemical cleaning, abrasive blasting, electroplating, laser engraving, and dozens of small, meticulous assembly steps.
One of the most striking things is just how much of the work is done by hand.
Sign up to the TechRadar Pro newsletter to get all the top news, opinion, features and guidance your business needs to succeed!
From installing components on the motherboard to applying thermal pads and screwing together daughterboards, human workers are visible at almost every stage.
There are multiple quality control checks throughout, including electrical testing, visual inspections, firmware flashing, and more.
The build is topped off with packaging, accessories, plastic wrapping, and factory seals before heading out the door.
Part of what makes the video so watchable – and that 22 minutes absolutely flies by – is that it’s not flashy or promotional. There’s no voiceover, no music. Just the sound of real machines and real people building something.
Many of the comments under the video echo the same feeling: surprise at the number of steps involved, appreciation for the amount of human care, and admiration for a company willing to show the entire process.
As one commenter observed, “This is the best advertisement a company can do” – and it really is.
Watch and enjoy the video below.
