If you’re looking for a new gaming laptop that won’t break the bank, this ASUS TUF Gaming A16 PC might be for you. It’s on sale for $700 right now, a $400 savings from the original MSRP.

ASUS sells many gaming laptops under its TUF Gaming brand, but this one has an AMD Ryzen 7 7735HS processor (8 cores, 16 threads), 16GB of DDR5 RAM, a 512GB SSD for storage, and AMD Radeon RX7700S graphics. The 16-inch 1080p screen gives you enough space for both productivity and gaming, with a refresh rate of up to 165Hz.

For connectivity, you get two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C ports, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A connectors, an HDMI 2.0b port, RJ45 LAN Ethernet, and Wi-Fi 6. There’s also a spacious touchpad and a keyboard with RGB backlighting.

This is a great laptop for modern PC gaming and productivity work that benefits from a powerful GPU, like 3D rendering or video editing. You won’t be able to max out the graphics settings in most AAA games, but there’s still plenty of power to work with. The laptop is bulkier than most ultrabooks, at 4.8 pounds and 0.87 inches in depth, but that’s typical of gaming laptops. All that extra cooling required for extended performance takes up space.

The only real ‘catch’ here might be the 512GB SSD, which might be too small for all your Windows files with a few big games. For example, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is 120GB from Steam, Cyberpunk 2077 is 70 GB, and Borderlands 3 is at least 75GB. Thankfully, most of the laptop’s hardware components are also replaceable, including the RAM and main SSD—the service manual for the similar FA617NS model can give you an idea of the steps required. If you decide that you need more storage or memory in the future, you can swap out some parts.

This could also be a great upgrade for anyone with a PC that does not support Windows 11, since we’re nearing the end-of-life for Windows 10. This ASUS TUF laptop ships with Windows 11 Home.

Razer pauses direct laptop sales in the US as new tariffs loom

Razer’s upcoming Blade 16 and other laptops are no longer available for preorder or purchase on its US site. The configurator for preordering its new Blade 16 laptop was available as recently as April 1st, according to the Internet Archive — one day before the Trump administration announced sweeping US tariffs on China, Taiwan, and others that make laptop components. When asked recently if tariffs might affect Razer’s prices or availability, its Public Relations Manager, Andy Johnston, told The Verge, “We do not have a comment at this stage regarding tariffs.”

The direct link to the Blade 16 configurator now takes you to a 404 error page, and its product page only has a “notify me” button instead of anywhere to submit your preorder.

Even a new laptop stand Razer announced today, which a press release said would be “available now,” only has a “notify me” button with no price listed anywhere. Meanwhile, the same laptop stand has a price of $99.99 CA on the Razer Canada site, where the Blade 16 configurator is still available. It’s a similar story for Razer’s site in other countries as well. We’ve contacted Razer for further comment on tariffs and asked for confirmation that it has paused sales, but it did not respond by the time of publication.
