What is Nintendo Switch 2 GameShare?
GameShare is a brand new feature that allows Switch 2 owners to share compatible games with a Switch or Switch 2, even if the receivers don’t own a copy. It’s worth noting that although the original Switch can receive games, only Switch 2 consoles can share titles, either via a local wireless connection or online through GameChat.
In addition, unlike Nintendo’s virtual game cards, you cannot continue to play the game once the GameShare session ends.

Does the original Nintendo Switch support GameShare?
Yes, the Nintendo Switch, Switch Lite and Switch OLED can all receive games shared via a local wireless connection from a Switch 2. However, it is not possible for any of the original Switch series to share games, as this is a feature exclusive to Switch 2. Switch users will also need to check whether the game is compatible with their console too.
Only Switch 2 users can share and receive games online, as GameShare is available through the new GameChat feature which isn’t supported on the original Switch line-up.

Which games support GameShare?
At the time of writing, Nintendo has confirmed that six of its games will support GameShare including:
- Super Mario Party Jamboree – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition and Jamboree TV
- Big Brain Academy: Brain vs. Brain
- Super Mario 3D World and Bowser’s Fury
- 51 Worldwide Games
- Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker
- Super Mario Odyssey
All of the above games will support GameShare both locally and online aside from Super Mario Party Jamboree – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV, which does not support online sharing.
