After prematurely listing it for sale earlier this month, Walmart is finally ready to sell you the Onn 4K Plus streamer for real this time. The latest in Walmart’s Google TV set-top box lineup has some impressive features for only $30.

You may have caught wind of the Onn 4K Plus last month when the Home Tester Club gave us our first look at the device. Those early reviews left us guessing on the crucial details of price and full specifications, but we can finally fill everything in now. Walmart’s new listing confirms the $30 price point, and what’s under the hood is far more generous than you might expect for that price.

This little box packs a quad-core Amlogic S905X5M processor, complemented by 2GB of RAM, a very nice 16GB of storage, both Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos support, Wi-Fi 6, and a voice-enabled remote complete with the big ol’ “Free TV” button. As my colleague Andrew mentioned last time, these specs aren’t going to rival a $100 Google TV streamer or the powerhouse NVIDIA Shield. But as the owner of last year’s Onn 4K Google TV box, I can say they’re more than adequate for people just looking to stream movies and TV shows in nice quality. I’ve been very happy with mine.

The Obnoxious “Free TV” Button Is Coming to All Future Google TV Remotes

Last year, Walmart launched a new Google TV streamer with a remote that had a big ‘ol “Free TV” button smack dab in the middle of it. Google has reportedly confirmed that all future Google TV devices will be required to have this button from now on.

The Onn 4K Plus’ closest competitor is probably the Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K. That device has similar specs in most areas, like 2GB of RAM, Dolby Vision, and Wi-Fi 6, but the Onn 4K Plus has double the storage and costs $20 less than the full retail price of the Fire TV Stick 4K.

For whatever reason, there are currently two listings on Walmart’s website for the Onn 4K Plus. One is showing as “out of stock,” while the other is available to purchase. If the $30 price tag is a bit too much for you right now, we’ll likely see this device get some deals in the following months. Regardless, it’s always nice to see more Google TV options that aren’t from Google itself.
